Pentagon orders AMRAAM missiles for Ukraine

The United States has signed a USD 192 million contract with Raytheon Missiles and Defense to supply AMRAAM missiles as part of its aid budget to Ukraine.

This was reported by the Pentagon press service.

"Raytheon Missiles and Defense of Tucson, Arizona, has signed a USD 192 million contract for the indefinite supply of an indefinite number of medium-range air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM). This contract provides for the purchase of missiles from various sources. The contract is valid until November 29, 2024," the Pentagon said in a statement.

The Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate operates in Russia

On August 30, drones launched from the territory of Russia attacked an air base in Pskov. During the attack, two Il-76 transport aircraft were destroyed and two more were heavily damaged.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, told The Drive The War Zone project.

"We are working from the territory of Russia," Budanov said, although he did not specify whether the attack was carried out by the intelligence or Russian partisans. He also refused to say what kind of drones were used or how many were involved.

Night drone attack on Russia

On September 1, the Russians claimed that drones had allegedly attacked the Russian Kurchatov and were flying toward Moscow. After the UAV attack, a fire broke out at a factory in Lyubertsy (Moscow region), where electronics for missiles are manufactured.

Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate, told RBC-Ukraine.

According to him, the explosions occurred as a result of a UAV attack, but the exact number of them was not specified.

"Sobyanin (Moscow mayor - ed.) lied - their air defense system did not shoot down anything. There is a fire in Lyubertsy, at the Tomilinsky Electronic Plant. The Russians produce electronics for missiles there," said the intelligence representative.

Ukrainian railways are being modernized

On Friday, September 1, the government allocated EUR 1 million for the modernization of the railroad: these are the remaining funds from the state budget special fund that came from the European Investment Bank last year.

This was announced by the Permanent Representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk.

It is noted that the new budget program for the design, restoration, construction, modernization, arrangement, repair of construction, engineering and transport railway infrastructure, as well as the purchase of fixed assets for the development of rail freight transportation will allocate EUR 100,000 of the remaining special fund of the state budget. They came from the European Investment Bank as part of the Ukrainian Railways Modernization Project (Modernization of the Infrastructure of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia) in 2022.
