218 clashes occur at front on Jan. 6: Ukraine repels 94 Russian attacks in Kursk region

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this as of 8:00 a.m. on January 7.

Thus, 218 combat engagements were recorded over the past day.

Yesterday, the Russian aggressors launched 64 air strikes on Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas, dropping 95 guided bombs and using 2,700 'kamikaze' drones. In addition, they fired over 5,000 times, 163 of which were from multiple rocket launchers.

20 settlements were hit by Russian air strikes.

Over the past day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces aviation, missile forces and artillery hit 12 areas of Russian manpower and equipment concentration, two radar stations, two air defense facilities, and another important object of the Russian invaders.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, the Ukrainian troops countered three Russian attacks near Vovchansk.

In the Kupyansk direction, four Russian attacks took place yesterday. Ukrainian defense forces defeated the Russian assault near the settlements of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Topoli and Zahryzove.

In the Lyman direction, the Russian troops attacked 13 times. They tried to advance near Nadiia, Pershotravneve, Terny, Yampolivka, Zarichne and Makiivka.

In the Siversk direction, the Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions twice near Bilohorivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, five firefights took place in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora and in the direction of Stupochky.

In the Toretsk direction, the Russian troops carried out eight attacks near Shcherbynivka and Toretsk.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces stopped 41 assault and offensive actions of the aggressor in the areas of Myroliubivka, Promin, Sukhyi Yar, Pishchane, Kotlyne, Ukrainka, Yasenove, Novoieluzavetivka, Tarasivka, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Zelene, Novyi Trud and Pokrovsk.

In the Kurakhove direction, the Ukrainian forces fought off 26 Russian attacks on Ukrainian troops' positions near Slovianka, Sribne, Andriivka, Petropavlivka, Kurakhove and Dachne.

In the Vremivka direction, the Russian aggressors carried out 13 offensives against the Ukrainian positions in the areas of Kostiantynopol, Yantarne, Dachne and Kostiantynopolske.

In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian troops successfully beat back one Russian attack near Novodanylivka.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian invaders stormed the Ukrainian troops' positions twice without success.

In the operational zone in the Kursk region, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 94 attacks by Russian invaders over the past day. In addition, the Russian military launched nine air strikes using nine guided bombs, and fired 372 artillery shells at Ukrainian troops' positions and localities.

In the Huliaipole direction, the occupying Russian army did not conduct any assault operations yesterday.

On the border with Belarus, no signs of Russian offensive groups were detected.

On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the Russian military is using artillery in the vicinity of Ukrainian settlements.

  • The Khortytsia operational-strategic troop grouping reported Russian attacks on Kurakhove, Donetsk region. Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed the city had been captured.
