Belarus builds up military presence near Ukraine's border. Kyiv reacts
On Tuesday, January 7, it was reported that Belarus is increasing its military presence in the border area with Ukraine
This was reported by the monitoring group Belarusian Hajun.
According to the source, units of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus have been redeployed to the Stolin, Lelchytsk, Mozyr, and Gomel districts on the border with Ukraine.
It is also known that at the end of December, an Il-76 military transport aircraft belonging to the Russian Aerospace Forces flew from Russia to Belarus.
This information was commented on by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council.
“As of now, there is no threat of invasion of Belarus' regular troops. The information about the build-up of Belarusian troops on the other side of the border does not mean the creation of strike groups and preparation for offensive actions,” he wrote.
According to him, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are in full control of the situation in the border area.
