Ukrainian forces hold out in Kurakhove, deny Lozova capture, spokesman reports
Spokesman for Ukraine’s Khortytsia operational and strategic troop grouping reported that the situation in Kurakhove is dire, but Ukrainian forces are holding the western outskirt
Viktor Trehubov, spokesman for the Khortytsia operational and strategic troop grouping, shared the information on the United News telethon.
"The situation in Kurakhove is extremely challenging at the moment, with significant parts of the town reduced to rubble. Ukrainian forces are holding the western outskirts, including the power plant located in the town," the statement said.
According to Trehubov, once the city is entirely destroyed, there will be no place left to defend.
"Every building serves as a fortification; without them, with only scorched earth remaining, it becomes impossible to maintain a defense," he emphasized.
Trehubov also refuted the report from the DeepState OSINT portal regarding the occupation of Lozova in the Kharkiv region.
“Regarding Lozova, I find it difficult to understand where the information about its capture originates, as reports from the ground indicate the opposite,” Viktor Trehubov stated.
- On January 6, Russia claimed to have captured Kurakhove in the Donetsk region, while Khortytsia reported that fighting in the town was still ongoing.
