Russia claims another UAV attack: Factory producing electronics for missiles burns near Moscow
On September 1, the Russians claimed that Ukrainian drones had allegedly attacked the town of Kurchatov and were flying towards Moscow. A fire broke out at a factory in Lyubertsy, Moscow Region, where electronics for missiles are manufactured
Andriy Yusov, a representative of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence, told RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, the explosion was caused by a UAV attack, but the exact number of them was not specified.
"Sobyanin (Moscow mayor - ed.) lied - their air defense did not shoot down anything. There's a fire in Lyubertsy, at the Tomilinsky Electronic Plant. The Russians produce electronics for missiles there," said the spokesman.
In addition, it is noted that, according to the publication, this operation was organized by Ukraine's Defense Intelligence. However, the intelligence service itself does not confirm its involvement or non-involvement in the incident.
The attack was previously reported by the governor of the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation, Roman Starovoit, and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
Starovoit wrote that "in the morning, Kurchatov was attacked by two Ukrainian drones." He added that the administrative building and a house were allegedly damaged.
In addition, Sobyanin noted that near Lyubertsy "another attempt to fly a drone" to Moscow was stopped.
"There were no casualties or damage. Emergency services are working at the scene," the publication says.
Russian media also noted that 61 flights were delayed and 23 canceled at Moscow airports in the morning. They have reintroduced the "Kover" (Carpet - rus.) regime, which means a situation under which the airspace over a certain area or airport is temporarily closed to flights due to unforeseen circumstances.
As of 07:28, it is reported that the Russian Vnukovo airport is operating normally after short-term restrictions.
"In order to ensure safety, from 05:37, some flights were redirected to other air harbors of the Moscow aviation hub. At 06:57, aircraft departures were allowed. At 07:28, all flight restrictions were lifted. Vnukovo International Airport is operating normally," the publication says.
