MPs Iryna Herashchenko, Oleksiy Honcharenko and Taras Batenko informed the cancellation of the Verkhovna Rada session.

According to Batenko, this is a forced step due to the threat of attacks.

“We have been informed that there is a threat of a missile attack on the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv in the coming days. We'll see if it happens or not, but Putin has raised the stakes as much as possible. The session of the Verkhovna Rada, which was scheduled for tomorrow (November 22), is canceled,” he said.

Herashchenko noted that an hour dedicated to questions to the government was scheduled to be held in the Rada on November 22.

“Let me remind you that kindergartens, schools, shops, and hospitals are operating. During air raid alerts, people go to shelters. It's hard to understand why the Verkhovna Rada sitting was canceled. We were supposed to discuss challenges in foreign police. It was a great opportunity to address how to confront Putin with external help. It’s clear that Putin is a serial maniac planning further attacks on Ukraine. We’ve been living under attack for 2.5 years in Kyiv, and Russian shelling has persisted for 10 years in the east of the country. Only on Tuesday did the president call for everyone to ‘work’ for Ukraine. And now, here we are—worked enough and gone,” the statement reads.

According to Honcharenko, the next meeting of the Rada will be held in December.

Russia’s launch of intercontinental ballistic missile

  • On November 21, Russian forces launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, along with Kinzhal and Kh-101 missiles, at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense destroyed six targets.
  • Russian leader Vladimir Putin says that Russia tested a medium-range Oreshnik ballistic missile during an attack on Ukraine's Dnipro on November 21.
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia had taken the second step toward escalation with the use of the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile, the first being the involvement of the DPRK military.
