Russia may have used Rubezh intercontinental ballistic missile in attack on Ukraine's Dnipro
On November 21, Russian forces launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, along with Kinzhal and Kh-101 missiles, at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense destroyed six targets
Ukraine's Air Force reported the information.
Between 5:00 and 7:00 a.m., Russia attacked Ukraine's Dnipro city with missiles of various types. In particular, an intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from Russia's Astrakhan region, a Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-to-air missile from the Tambov region, and seven Kh-101 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic bombers.
As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, the Ukrainian Air Force's anti-aircraft missile units destroyed six Kh-101 missiles.
“The other missiles were destroyed without significant consequences,” the military said.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces Strategic Communications Center (StratCom) noted that Ukraine became the first country in the world to be targeted by an intercontinental ballistic missile.
Ukrainska Pravda, citing its own sources, reports that Russia may have fired for the first time an intercontinental ballistic missile Rubezh, which is a potential carrier of a nuclear warhead.
According to Ukrainian agency Defense Express, the RS-26 Rubezh is designed to deliver nuclear warheads. Its development in the Russian Federation was shrouded in secrecy due to its violation of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.
