Using Rubezh ICBM without nuclear warhead makes no sense for Russia - expert
Defense Express development director Valerii Riabykh says that Russia's Rubezh missile was developed and tested with a TNT equivalent only to be fitted with a nuclear warhead

He said this on Espreso TV.
"As for the Rubezh intercontinental ballistic missile, it can carry a total warhead weight of up to 1,200 kg. There is simply no point in using it in conventional equipment, because the price tag of this missile starts at least $50 million, and the effect of an explosion of 1.5 kg of TNT equivalent will not be so destructive," commented Valerii Riabykh.
According to him, a similar effect can be achieved with other missiles.
"We need to understand that such a missile was developed and tested with a TNT equivalent only to be fitted with a nuclear warhead. Otherwise, the use of this missile is unjustified," emphasized the development director of the Defense Express information and consulting company.
- Earlier, Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi noted that the buzz around the possible use of the RS-26 Rubezh missile is justified.
- On November 21, the Russian army launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, a Kinzhal, and a Kh-101 at the territory of Ukraine. The Air Defense Forces destroyed 6 enemy targets.
