Ukraine’s Storm Shadow missiles hit Russian command post, killing top officers
Ukraine's Storm Shadow strike on a Russian command post in the Kursk region caused heavy casualties among Russian and North Korean officers
Defense Express reports.
Ukraine's strike with Storm Shadow missiles on an underground facility located at a presidential administration sanatorium in the Russian region of Kursk on November 20 appears to have been highly effective.
The target's nature and the use of a significant number of cruise missiles strongly suggested that the objective was Russian and North Korean military command personnel.
Unofficial reports have emerged a day after the attack, supporting this assumption. The Telegram channel Dossier Spy, known for insider information, reported that the strike destroyed a command post, killing 18 military personnel and injuring 33 others. Among the injured were three North Korean military members, reportedly two male officers and a female medic, likely acting as a translator.
Most of the Russian casualties were officers from the Southern and Eastern Military Districts. It is also reported that Lieutenant General Valeriy Solodchuk, the deputy commander of the Leningrad Military District and a former commander in the so-called Donetsk People's Republic in 2014, was present at the site.
Additionally, during efforts to clear unexploded ordnance, 13 Russian sappers were injured, including the deputy chief of staff of the 88th Engineering Regiment. The presence of such high-ranking personnel suggests that the casualties might not be limited to officers and one general.
