Russia accuses Ukraine of large-scale drone attack

The Russian MoD reported on their air defense operations.

The statement from the Russian side claims that they “thwarted an attempt by the Ukrainian regime to carry out a UAV terrorist attack within Russian territory”.

Reportedly, air defense systems downed 3 Ukrainian UAVs over the Bryansk region and another drone over the Oryol region.

Pskov region

A drone attack took place at the Pskov airfield, leading to reported damage to an Il-76 aircraft. The incident occurred during the evening of Tuesday, August 29, with explosions near the airfield in Pskov being reported.

Reports about the explosions emerged after 23:00 Kyiv time. Local sources indicated the presence of a visible fire in the vicinity of the Pskov airfield, along with reports of automatic gunfire.

Baza reported that around 10 unidentified UAVs attacked Pskov. As of 00:15, the drone attack was reported to be ongoing.

TASS, a Russian propaganda outlet, stated that 4 Il-76 aircraft (heavy military transport aircraft) were damaged in Pskov.

Governor Mikhail Vedernikov has commented on the situation and the actions of the air defense.

"The Ministry of Defense at the Pskov airport is countering a drone attack. I have been present at the scene since the incident began," stated the Russian governor.

Reportedly, there were no casualties. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed.

The Russian city of Pskov is situated approximately 100 km from Estonia and Latvia. Ukraine is over 700 km away.

Kaluga region

Around 2:00 a.m. local time, the Russian air defense system reportedly shot down a drone over the Kaluga region.

Temporarily occupied Sevastopol

After 3:00 a.m., the "governor" of Sevastopol reported an alleged drone attack originating from the Black Sea.

"In the Sevastopol Bay area, preliminary information suggests that air defense forces are repelling drone attacks from the sea. All relevant forces and services are on high alert. Remain calm and rely solely on official information," declared terrorist Mikhail Razvozhayev in an official statement.

Ryazan region

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that an alleged Ukrainian drone was shot down over the Ryazan region.

Moscow region

Around 3:30 a.m., as per information from the Ministry of Defense of the terrorists, the Russian air defense system intercepted and shot down a drone over the Ruza district of the Moscow region.
