Russia's military losses in Ukraine nearly double in 2024 compared to 2023 — UK intelligence
According to UK intelligence, Russian army losses in Ukraine in 2024 totaled 429,660 (killed and wounded), nearly double the 252,940 losses reported in 2023
The UK Ministry of Defense reported the information.
According to the report, since the start of the full-scale invasion, total Russian personnel losses may have exceeded 790,000.
Intelligence indicated that December 2024 was particularly challenging for Russia, with 48,670 losses recorded in that month alone.
“December was the sixth straight month that Russian Forces have suffered an increase in monthly total losses,” the agency added.
The average daily losses of Russian troops in December 2024 reached a record 1,570 soldiers, marking a new high for the entire duration of the war. December 19, 2024, saw the highest single-day losses, with 2,200 soldiers reported.
“Russia will highly likely continue to experience high casualty rates over January 2025 with continued dismounted infantry attacks on multiple axes,” the intelligence summarized.
