“Unlikely to be mass produced": military expert Zgurets on Russia’s new Gerbera UAV
Serhiy Zgurets, Defense Express CEO and a military expert, provided insights into the new Russian drone Gerbera
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
“A few days ago, such a drone was probably downed with the help of electronic warfare near Kyiv. This drone is indeed made of foam and plywood, but it was actually equipped with SIM cards of our mobile operators, which actually allows the enemy to identify where exactly this drone was landed or shot down in case of a crash. Later, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine confirmed that the enemy is trying to use such drones to find out the locations of either our air defense systems or mobile brigades that carry out attacks,” Zgurets said.
According to him, the UAV is just a single sample of this development, which has no special technical solutions and is made of cheap materials.

“The enemy is probably trying to minimize the manufacturing process. The enemy itself claims that this unmanned system can serve as a strike and reconnaissance aircraft, or a decoy aircraft, which is what actually happened during previous launches in Kyiv. So far, we have only one such downed sample of the enemy complex, and it is important to recall that this is a development of the same Alabuga enterprise that produces Shaheds. But we can hardly talk about the beginning of mass production of this model. According to our estimates, it can have a range of up to 300 km. All the talk about the swarming use of this complex, I think, is an advertising exaggeration,” summarized the expert.-
On the night of Monday, July 29, Russian troops launched an aircraft missile and attack drones at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenders managed to destroy almost all air targets.
