Ukraine start using fire-spewing ‘dragon drones' on frontline - CNN
Ukrainian Defence Forces have begun to use Dragon drones at the frontline, which can quickly burn vegetation covering enemy troops
CNN writes about it.
According to the publication, these are drones with a thermite, white-hot mixture of aluminum powder and iron oxide. that burns at a temperature of 2200 °C. Such drones can burn not only trees and vegetation covering Russian troops, but also metal.
“Strike Drones are our wings of vengeance, bringing fire straight from the sky! They become a real threat to the enemy, burning his positions with an accuracy that no other weapon can achieve” a social media post from Ukraine’s 60th Mechanized Brigade said.
Nicholas Drummond, a defense industry analyst specializing in ground warfare and a former British army officer, believes that fearmongering is likely to be the main effect of Ukraine's Dragon drones.
‘It is very nasty stuff. Using a drone to deliver it is quite innovative. But used in that way its effect will have been psychological more than physical,’ he said in an interview with CNN.
At the same time, he acknowledged the physical impact of the drone and noted that he ‘would not have liked to have been on the receiving end.’
- The head of the Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, said that drones developed in Ukraine can hit targets in Russia at a distance of up to 1,800 km from the border.
