Russia will definitely launch counteroffensive to force AFU out of Kursk - Colonel Grant
Glen Grant, a retired British army colonel and renowned military expert, said in an interview with Espreso TV that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost the initiative in the Kursk region and need to regain it somewhere
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
“Looking at the map, it is difficult to say where the greatest pressure is now in the Kursk direction, but we can be absolutely sure that Russia is already preparing and will definitely launch a counteroffensive. They will try to push Ukrainian troops out of Kursk, and then it will become a matter of resources. In the next two or three weeks, it will be unclear what will happen next. We cannot predict it, but we can only watch, hope and believe that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are ready for anything that Russia will launch against them, whether in the Kursk direction or in eastern Ukraine,” Grant said.
According to Grant, the pressure from Russia will remain. The operation could turn into another section of the defense line if the Ukrainian Armed Forces fail to break through again.
“No doubt, Ukraine has lost the initiative in the Kursk region, and needs to get it back somewhere. But the Ukrainian breakthrough in the Kursk region came as a surprise to everyone, and that's great because it showed that the operational security of the defense forces was on top. For the first few weeks, the initiative was on the side of the Ukrainians, although now we are facing an increasingly strong Russian defense,” he added.

The Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, said that Russia's response to the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region was “slow and scattered”.
