The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden will not have time to use several billion dollars from the aid package allocated to Ukraine before the end of the current president's term

Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh reported this at a briefing.

She was asked whether the Biden administration was concerned about "leaving a pretty substantial amount of money not delivered to Ukraine in terms of weapons and several billion dollars" and whether Kyiv might still receive this weaponry.

"So, on Ukraine, you know, as you mentioned, there will be a few billion dollars in authority left for the incoming administration to decide what they decide to do with that remaining authority," Singh said.

She emphasized that Ukraine has bipartisan support in Congress and that "it is because of our efforts that Ukraine continues to be successful on the battlefield."

"And I think it's pretty clear that the Ukraine Defense Contact Group is — it's more than just a common understanding. It's a common cause. And so, it's really up to the incoming administration to decide what they use — what they decide to do with the remaining authority that's left. But of course, we hope that, you know, in some way the Ukraine Defense Contact Group continues on. But certainly, support for Ukraine remains strong within Congress," the Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary added.

  • On April 20, 2025, the U.S. House of Representatives held a historic vote approving a $95 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.
  • On November 15, Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh stated that U.S. President Joe Biden intends to use all funds allocated by Congress to assist Ukraine before the inauguration of newly elected President Donald Trump on January 20.
  • On December 18, U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that the military assistance already provided and to be provided by President Joe Biden's administration should cover the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in weapons, equipment, and supplies until the end of 2025.
