This was reported by Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram.

The President recalled that last year France came up with the idea of deploying partner contingents in Ukraine to bring peace closer. According to Zelenskyy, such deployment of partner contingents is one of the best tools.

"Let's take a more practical approach to making this possible. And we have also heard signals from some of our partners - from Great Britain - in support of this. And we must be bold, and we must offer truly strong tools," the President of Ukraine said.

Earlier, Zelenskyy reported that he had arrived in Germany for a meeting in the Ramstein format.

During a joint conference with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the support and assistance provided to Ukraine, as well as the coordination of the Ramstein meetings since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.

He emphasized that in 11 days, a new chapter will begin for Europe and the world — after the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

“We’ve come so far that it would honestly be strange to ‘drop the ball’ now and stop working as part of the coalition we’ve built,” the president said.

Zelenskyy noted that "stopping the enemy, minimizing losses, and protecting our territory" are directly linked to Ukraine’s need for drones. He added that by 2025, Ukraine plans to break records in drone production and supplies from partner states.

“I’m doing everything possible to make sure this war ends with dignity for Ukraine and all of Europe this year,” Zelenskyy said.

At the same time, he stressed the urgent need for air defense systems, recalling the Russian shelling of Zaporizhzhia on January 8, which killed 13 people and injured 113 others.

Zelenskyy is expected to attend the meeting and hold several bilateral talks.

  • Earlier, media reports quoting the U.S. Air Force confirmed that the next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format would take place in Germany on January 9.
  • On January 4, Zelenskyy announced that the meeting would focus on protecting Ukraine’s skies from Russian missile and drone attacks.
  • On January 7, the Pentagon stated that discussions would cover Ukraine’s battlefield needs, long-term defense strategies, and coalition-based coordination of resources.
