"Big work ahead": Umerov meets Austin ahead of Ramstein meeting
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin to discuss preparations for the Ramstein meeting and key areas of cooperation
Ukraine's Ministry of Defense reported the information.
Umerov stated that he began his work at the latest meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense in the Ramstein format. The Ukrainian Defense Minister has already met with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

“Today, coalition leaders are approving roadmaps for each of the eight areas of cooperation, which will set out strategic goals and key needs for military assistance until at least the end of 2027,” the statement said.
The documents developed and agreed upon jointly by Ukraine and partners will become the basis for support and allocation of assistance in such areas as air defense, artillery, armored vehicles, drones, air forces, maritime security and other important areas.
"Big work ahead," Umerov added.
- The next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format will take place in Germany on January 9.
- On January 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the meeting would discuss, among other things, the protection of Ukrainian skies from Russian missiles and anti-missile systems.
- On January 7, the Pentagon press service reported that the meeting would discuss Ukraine's needs on the battlefield and long-term defense needs and coordination through coalitions of forces and capabilities.
