Ramstein 25: military analyst warns of potential shift in format
Military expert Dmytro Sniehyrov notes that during Ramstein 25, officials suggested it might be the final meeting of its kind
He said this on Espreso TV.
"I was alarmed by a statement from one of the participants at Ramstein, specifically a collective participant representing the countries at this meeting, suggesting that this might be the last meeting in this format. However, when it comes to the collective support of European partners, they are considering a scenario in which the U.S. might pause military-technical cooperation. That said, this remains a controversial version, as the United States has announced the allocation of $15 billion in macroeconomic aid to Ukraine from frozen Russian assets, of which only $1 billion will be delivered by the Biden administration," the military expert noted.
According to him, this raises the question of whether the Trump administration will commit to supporting Ukraine with the remaining $14 billion. This contradicts fears that the U.S. might freeze military-technical assistance.
"On the other hand, let’s talk about the fact that European NATO countries are already accounting for the future U.S. President Donald Trump’s request to increase Alliance spending to at least 3%. Several countries have already reported boosting funding for their own defense industries and NATO’s collective treasury. In other words, the trends are positive regarding potential support for Ukraine and the ability of Alliance countries themselves to collectively counter the Russian threat," Dmytro Sniehyrov concluded.
