Cyber specialists from Ukraine’s HUR target Russian arms production firms
On September 7, cyber specialists from Ukraine's Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) carried out an attack on several Russian enterprises involved in weapons production and military infrastructure development
The HUR's press service reported the incident.
Companies producing components for Russia’s radio-electronic systems, various spare parts for weapons, and metal processing equipment were targeted in the attack.
The cyber specialists also focused on firms involved in Russian military infrastructure projects.
Affected companies include SMKomplekt EK, Contour-NIIRS, Chip-Prof, Chelyabinsk Plant of Industrial Modernisation, Sibinstrument, Smetka.ru, and others.
The pro-Russian propaganda platform Simferopol Forum was also impacted by the cyber operation.
"As part of the operation, HUR specialists accessed 14 servers and disrupted the internal infrastructure of the targeted organizations by deleting system files, databases, and backups," intelligence officers reported.
Cyber specialists also posted messages celebrating Ukraine's Military Intelligence Day on the websites they attacked.
