Over 1,300 people from Mariupol garrison remain in Russian captivity
The Russians are trying to change the status of the entire Mariupol's garrison from prisoners of war to ordinary criminals
Petro Andriushchenko, who advises the mayor of Mariupol, told Espreso TV about this.
“More than 1.3 thousand people from the garrison of Mariupol are still in captivity of the Russian Federation. We are talking to our people, from the garrison of Mariupol, who are returning from captivity. They tell terrible stories. It's hard to imagine what they have already been through and what they are going through now,” he said.
This week, the torture chamber, the pseudo-judicial machine of the Russian Federation, started working again, Andriushchenko said.
“Two soldiers - one from the marines and one from the Azov regiment - were convicted on pseudo-sentences and pseudo-accusations. They were sentenced to 22 and 23 years in prison. In this way, the Russians are trying to transfer the entire garrison of Mariupol from the status of prisoners of war to the status of ordinary criminals through pseudo-sentences.
Firstly, this complicates the exchange as an exchange of prisoners of war. Secondly, they are trying to raise the price for each of our prisoners of war so that they can take more of their Russians in exchange for our people instead of exchanging them according to the existing formulas. This story is happening all the time, but for some reason it is not widely covered. It does not reach the world community at all. We have to keep reminding them of this,” he added.
