Great Britain and Japan allocate $1 billion to strengthen Ukraine’s economy
On Tuesday, December 24, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that Ukraine received $1 billion from Japan and the United Kingdom under the World Bank program to support the economy and fund priority expenditures

He shared this news on his Telegram channel.
The report states that the tranche was provided under guarantees from both governments as part of the World Bank’s Development Policy Loan (DPL) program.
According to Shmyhal, the funds will be directed toward strengthening the economy and covering key expenses in social and humanitarian sectors.
“We are grateful to the World Bank and the governments of Japan and the United Kingdom for their significant support and contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s resilience,” Shmyhal said.
- On December 20, Shmyhal also announced that Ukraine had started receiving the first tranche of U.S. funds from frozen Russian assets. The World Bank is expected to allocate $2 billion through the DPL mechanism.
