Ukraine reveals notes from North Korean soldier killed in Russia's Kursk region
In Russia's Kursk region, Ukraine's Special Operations Forces are eliminating North Korean soldiers fighting for Russia. A notebook was found on one of them
This is stated on the Special Operations Forces’ Facebook page.
In the notebook, the author – Gyeong Hong Jong – congratulates another soldier, Song Ji Myong (Yong), on his birthday.
"Having left my homeland and staying on Russian territory, I congratulate my best friend and army brother Song Ji Myong (Yong) on his birthday and wish him good health, December 9, 2024," the note says.
Ukrainian special forces indicated that this is the first deciphered entry from the captured notebook. The translation of the soldier's other notes is in progress.
"When you want to congratulate a friend, but instead of a party, you have a rifle and a trench on foreign soil, and the candles on the cake have been replaced by Ukrainian 5.56 caliber lead," added the Special Operations Forces.
- The Special Operations Forces showed the documents that Russia issues to the DPRK military to conceal their presence at the front.
