War may move to new stage if no agreement by May - political analyst
Political scientist Vadym Denysenko believes that negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine should begin in February 2025
He expressed this opinion on the air of Espreso TV.
"If we talk about the prospects for 2025, in my opinion, theoretically, the negotiation process should start around February. We see how slowly Trump's team is starting this process. Kellogg, Trump's representative on Ukraine, will come to Kyiv only at the beginning of January. And this is understandable, as they clearly see Vladimir Putin's position. Throughout last week, Putin repeatedly and almost explicitly stated that he is withdrawing from the negotiation process and is not going to start talks," he explained.
According to Vadym Denysenko, if negotiations do not take place by late May or early June, a new cycle of the war may begin, lasting approximately one year.
"Therefore, realistically imagining the start of negotiations within the next month and a half is quite challenging. I believe the negotiation process may theoretically begin no earlier than February. If it does not conclude positively by May—by the end of May or the beginning of summer—there is a high likelihood that the war could enter another cycle. In this case, we can estimate the duration of this cycle to be no more than 12 months," the political scientist said.
