Orbán proposes two scenarios for ending war, Putin reacts
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that the war in Ukraine will end in 2025, but he sees only two possible outcomes for how events might unfold
In an interview with Magyar Nemzet, Orbán stated, "The war will end in 2025. Either through peace talks or by one of the warring parties being destroyed."
He added that by 2025, the war policy will be replaced by a focus on peace, and the world will see a return to significant economic growth.
"America and Europe together have spent around 300 billion euros on this war - money that could have been used to rapidly improve living standards across Europe. We could have stopped migration and built a completely new European defense system. Instead, this money has simply been wasted," Orban said.
Kremlin's response
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia is still open to talks with Ukraine.
“As President Putin has said multiple times, we are open to resolving our issues through negotiations. We remain open to dialogue. However, since there has been no progress in Ukraine's willingness to negotiate, we will continue our ‘special military operation,’” Peskov was quoted as saying by TASS.
- Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said he had offered Ukraine and Russia a Christmas ceasefire and a large-scale POW exchange.
