This is stated on the Pentagon's website.
As noted, Williams will start producing more gas turbine engines. This will increase the production of high-precision strike weapons and unmanned systems.
This includes the production of Harpoon anti-ship missiles, AGM-158 JASSM air-to-ground missiles, AGM-158C LRASM long-range anti-ship missiles, Tomahawk cruise missiles, and other precision strike weapons.
The Pentagon notes that the funds will be spent under the Indo-Pacific Security Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2024 and the Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2024.
“The effort will increase the production capacity of critical materials needed to defend against adversarial aggression,” the U.S. Department of Defense emphasized.
- On December 20, reports indicated that U.S. President Joe Biden's administration plans to announce a new assistance package for Ukraine in the coming days under the Security Assistance Initiative.
