"Personal relations soured": Expert suggests why Zelenskyy wasn’t invited to G20 in Brazil
Politician Oleh Rybachuk, head of the NGO Center for Joint Actions and former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European Integration (2005), emphasized that Brazil, as the G20 host, has the authority to decide who gets invited to the summit in Rio de Janeiro on November 18–19
He shared his opinions on Espreso TV.
“A few observers have pointed out that Zelenskyy didn’t get an invite to this G20 summit. I assume they’ll provide some explanation during the event. But what really matters is that Ukraine will still be a key topic of discussion. That said, this G20 summit doesn’t lean toward supporting cooperation with Putin or giving him any decisive advantage,” Rybachuk commented.
He stated that Brazil is one of the reasons Zelenskyy was not invited, as the G20 summit will take place in Rio de Janeiro on November 18–19.
“The lack of an invite for Zelenskyy is less about the G20 as a whole and more about strained relations between Lula (Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva) and Zelenskyy. Their personal relationship hasn’t clicked, which could easily explain it. After all, the host country has the final say on who gets invited,” he concluded.
