Trump lacks ideas on how to end Russia's war in Ukraine, says journalist Portnykov
Journalist Vitaliy Portnykov believes that Donald Trump has no idea how to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, only stressing the need to stop the fighting
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"I think Trump, like any populist politician, has no clue what he will do about the Russian-Ukrainian war. There's the reality he talks about for the elections, with promises on domestic and foreign policies, and then there’s the reality he'll face after January 20, 2025. Right now, he talks about the war in Ukraine, but he can't really get involved in the political processes or figure out what the negotiation process between Ukraine and Russia would look like. He just repeats, like a mantra, that the fighting needs to stop. I don't know what Donald Trump will do when his promises on U.S. domestic policy and foreign policy challenges collide with reality. The problem is, he doesn't know either," Portnykov explained.
The journalist believes that Trump's presidency will be the most dramatic and difficult for the world in the 21st century. The world will be forced to endure a period of major trials and challenges.
"When he was first elected, it was clear he hadn’t even prepared for the presidency, and had to learn how to handle the Oval Office from scratch. Now he had been convinced he would win, so everything that awaits him after January 20, 2025 will be real work, which he’ll have to try to handle. However, it will be one of the toughest and most dramatic presidencies in the 21st century. This will be a decade of trials and challenges," he added.
