Poland's Tusk, Ukraine's Zelenskyy plan high-stakes visits in early 2025
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced plans to visit Kyiv in early 2025, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy set to make a return trip to Warsaw shortly after
He said this at a press conference after a meeting with his Estonian counterpart Kristen Michal, Radio Liberty reports.
According to Tusk, he agreed on mutual visits with Zelenskyy early next year.
"I had a longer conversation with President Zelensky yesterday. We agreed with the Ukrainian president on a visit and a return visit in the coming days. I will be in Ukraine at the beginning of the year. President Zelenskyy will come to us at this important moment when Poland will assume the presidency of the EU Council," he said.
The head of the Polish government also stressed that Warsaw and Tallinn are "active in creating a political scenario" that will end the war in Ukraine in a fair way acceptable to Kyiv and its allies.
"In a way that will primarily ensure our interests and our security. It is very important that in the face of the Russian threat, the ongoing war, there is solidarity with Ukraine of countries that are building the future of the region well and wisely in terms of our interests and our security," Tusk added.
