Ukraine needs real guarantees that Russia will not attack: joining NATO, or a bilateral security agreement with the United States or Great Britain - Ogryzko

The diplomat expressed his opinion on Espreso.TV.

"The main thing for us is guarantees, but by no means from Russia. There can be only one guarantee from the Russian Federation that they will continue to attack us. Ukraine needs real guarantees so that Russia does not have the opportunity to attack", Ogryzko said.

The ex-minister emphasized that there are two such guarantees: separate guarantees from the United States of America or Great Britain - countries with nuclear weapons with which we conclude bilateral security treaties, which clearly state that an attack on one country is an attack on another; or full membership of Ukraine in NATO.

"These are two types of guarantees that really provide us with security, everything else is from the evil one. I am glad that our government has finally heard that it is impossible to have any guarantee agreements with Russia, because it costs nothing. As for NATO, Ukraine has a unique chance - it is necessary to join together with Finland and Sweden", Volodymyr Ogryzko noted.
