Ukraine needs autonomous sniper groups to perform many tasks, Ukrainian military sniper says
Ukrainian religious scholar and philosopher, army sniper Yuriy Chornomorets believes that it is necessary to form autonomous sniper groups, as they perform a huge number of tasks
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"There is a positive dynamic in the fact that the state and Western partners are training and retraining a large number of snipers. That is, a large number of snipers are being trained in Ukraine and in the West, and we are also trying to retrain snipers informally. And so, the snipers we provide for have received 216 rifles, and we have also managed to put 160 state-owned rifles into service, and they are now being used more effectively because we have put better sights on them," he said.
The sniper added that in total, more than 350 snipers are now using their assistance. However, it is not enough to train people, Chornomorets added that it is necessary to create combat units of 6 to 10 snipers, which would be provided with full cover by both scouts and drones.
"It all depends on how experienced the people leading these sniper groups are and how proactive they are and how they can use this huge toolkit," he said.
Chornomorets also noted that there are good snipers in some parts of the frontline, but "the command cannot understand that they need to be formed into autonomous groups so that they can work."
"Now everywhere: in the south and in the east, where these groups operate, they perform a huge number of tasks, especially near Kupyansk. It is the most dangerous situation, even more dangerous than near Avdiivka. We are sending many guys from Kherson and other areas there, and we are seeing results. People are acting autonomously and can operate as part of a sniper pair," the sniper said.
