The photos were published by the Oryx website.

The photographs were taken during the day, showing the silhouette of the ship with a roll on the port side, damage and smoke from the fire.

The publication notes that according to some characteristic design features, it can be concluded that this is the cruiser "Moskva". According to the official version of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, "Moskva" sank during towing "in conditions of stormy seas".

Rob Lee, PhD student in the Department of War Studies at King's College London, tweeted that the image of the cruiser "looks like a legit photo".

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Looks like a legit photo of the Moskva after it was struck by Ukrainian Neptun anti-ship missiles. <a href="https://t.co/oVYDySpcd8">https://t.co/oVYDySpcd8</a></p>&mdash; Rob Lee (@RALee85) <a href="https://twitter.com/RALee85/status/1515825104223191041?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 17, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

And OSINTtechnical, a Twitter account sharing open-source intelligence, wrote: "I can't verify the authenticity, but it's a Glory-class cruiser and I don't think any of them were destroyed in this way".

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Another photo of the Moskva <a href="https://t.co/251AOogyKB">pic.twitter.com/251AOogyKB</a></p>&mdash; OSINTtechnical (@Osinttechnical) <a href="https://twitter.com/Osinttechnical/status/1515821259225022466?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 17, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

It is noted: "It looks like the Moskva was burning internally before it went down, heavy smoke and flames can be seen coming from most visible portholes".

German journalist Tibor Martini also speaks about the similarity of the ship in the photo before the "Moskva": "In any case, there are several similarities with the photographs of the "Moskva".

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="de" dir="ltr">Erstmals soll ein Foto die zerstörte <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Moskva?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Moskva</a> zeigen. Es gibt auf jeden Fall mehrere Übereinstimmungen mit Fotos der Moskva: <a href="https://t.co/9QcDAgZhWU">https://t.co/9QcDAgZhWU</a> <a href="https://t.co/A1wvSJNj57">pic.twitter.com/A1wvSJNj57</a></p>&mdash; Tibor Martini ???????? Naval expert G. I. Sutton also released the photo and a little analysis of it.

"Moskva Sinking: Images Reveal Once Powerful Russian Navy Ship On Fire First analysis shows fire aft of Vulkan missiles and ahead of S-300 missiles, Possibly this is before a larger explosion", he wrote.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">***BREAKING*** -&gt; <a href="https://t.co/JfGRiqMVf6">https://t.co/JfGRiqMVf6</a><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Moskva?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Moskva</a> Sinking: Images Reveal Once Powerful Russian Navy Ship On Fire<br><br>First analysis shows fire aft of Vulkan missiles and ahead of S-300 missiles, Possibly this is before a larger explosion<br><br>First analysis, caveats apply, OSINT <a href="https://t.co/b4FbBHsxLo">pic.twitter.com/b4FbBHsxLo</a></p>&mdash; H I Sutton (@CovertShores) <a href="https://twitter.com/CovertShores/status/1515835497867878404?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 17, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Oleksandr Kryshko, head of the department for organizing elections and referendums at the Central Election Commission of Ukraine, writes that the photo was taken from a Turkish ship.

"Good photos have appeared. Beautiful. Photo from the Turkish ship, which was the first to approach the SOS signal. There is no storm, by the way", he wrote.

Recall, the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, the cruiser "Moskva", was hit on April 13 by Ukrainian Neptune missiles. The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the missile cruiser "Moskva" was seriously damaged.
