Russia to face surprise in Pokrovsk direction, says Ukraine's 59th Brigade officer
Russian forces have advanced closer to Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, but they will face an unexpected counterattack
Serhii Tsekhotskyi, an officer with Ukraine's 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, shared this information on Espreso TV.
“Russian forces are making some progress towards Novohrodivka. Currently, the Russian army is trying to break through to the Pokrovsk-Karlivka road near Mykolaivka. This is where they are actively seeking results. It is the most dangerous area in the Pokrovsk sector. However, given certain circumstances, Russia is in for a surprise. Ukrainian commanders are fully committed and anticipate all possible scenarios. If we spot any Russian forces, we engage them with fire to prevent them from posing a threat to us,” he said.
The situation in the area where the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade is deployed remains unchanged, Tsekhotskyi says.
“We are effectively holding the defensive line, Russia has no chance of breaking through. Yes, the Russian army has moved closer to Pokrovsk. We may need to retreat, give up a small settlement, or lose a minor battle, but the main goal is to win the war. We shouldn’t interfere with the military’s work. When evacuation is needed, it should be carried out promptly, rather than delaying it under fire and risking lives. Overall, the situation is not yet decided. Advances of 100 meters or tens of kilometers in the Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorod areas still show that Russia has already lost,” the officer summarized.
- The forced evacuation of children in the Donetsk region is proceeding non-stop. On August 7, Pavlo Diachenko, the acting head of Ukraine's National Police's communication department in the Donetsk region, reported that 4,000 children remain in 28 settlements.
