Ukraine plans to produce 30,000 drones, 3,000 missiles in 2025
On January 3, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held the first government meeting of 2025 and shared plans for the country’s defense industry this year
He wrote about it on Telegram.
“This year, we have a record budget to support our army and strengthen the defense sector – UAH 2 trillion 230 billion. Every hryvnia of taxpayer money from the state budget will be directed towards these needs,” the prime minister said.
Shmyhal pointed out that at least UAH 739 billion will be spent on weapons and military equipment in 2025. Domestic defense companies aim to expand their production capabilities, with a goal of reaching $30 billion in output.
He also mentioned the "Weapons of Victory" project, which plans to secure long-term contracts with manufacturers for 3-5 years.
"The president's task is to produce at least 30,000 long-range drones. Ukrainian factories also aim to produce around 3,000 cruise missiles and drone missiles," Shmyhal added.
Additionally, Ukraine will adopt the “Danish model,” where international partners purchase weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers for the needs of the Ukrainian military. This approach is expected to raise over $1 billion by the end of 2025.
