Ukraine reports 92 combat clashes at front, repels 17 attacks in Russia’s Kursk region

Since the start of January 3, there have been 92 combat clashes along the frontline, 33 of which took place in Russia’s Kursk region

Ukraine’s General Staff reported.

During the day, Russian shelling hit Popivka and Bachivsk in the Sumy region, Karpovychi in the Chernihiv region, and Tymofiivka in the Kharkiv region. Additionally, Russian forces launched guided aerial bombs at Popivka and Oleksandrivka in the Sumy region, and Hremiachka in the Chernihiv region.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, Ukrainian troops repelled one attack near Vovchansk.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces launched five attacks near Nadiia, Makiivka, Hryhorivka, and Cherneshchyna. Four of these attacks were stopped, and one firefight is still ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven attempts by the Russian army to advance near Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, and in the directions of Predtechyne and Stupochky.

In the Toretsk sector, Russian forces attacked four times near Dyliivka, Toretsk, and Shcherbynivka. Three of these attacks were unsuccessful for occupying trooops, and one is still ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk sector, since the start of the day, Russian forces have made 26 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Vodiane Druhe, Baranivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zelene, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Zvirove, Solone, Kotlyne, and Pokrovsk. Ukrainian troops repelled 16 attacks, and 10 firefights are still ongoing.

In the Kurakhove sector, the Russian army attacked nine times near Petropavlivka, Kurakhove, and Shevchenko. Five battles have ended, and four are still ongoing.

In the Vremivka sector, Russian forces unsuccessfully attacked Ukrainian positions near Yantarne and in the direction of Kostiantynopil and Novosilka five times. They also launched seven guided aerial bombs and fired unguided missiles at Zelene Pole and Novopil.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russia continues to shell Ukrainian positions and civilian infrastructure and made one attempt to advance near Novoandriivka. Russian forces also launched airstrikes with unguided missiles on Lobkove, Shcherbaky, and Piatykhatky.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions once but were unsuccessful.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 Russian attacks, and 16 more clashes are still ongoing. The Russian army launched guided aerial bombs in the sector today.

The situation on other frontlines has not changed significantly, according to the General Staff.

  • The occupying Russian army lost 1,080 servicemen over the past day of the war against Ukraine. Ukrainian Defense Forces also destroyed 14 Russian armored vehicles and a tank.
