German CDU supports deployment of Bundeswehr peacekeepers to Ukraine
The security spokesperson for Germany's main opposition party, the CDU, Roderich Kiesewetter, has expressed support for deploying Bundeswehr peacekeepers to Ukraine, emphasizing that there is no alternative to this
This was reported by Schwäbische Zeitung.
According to Kiesewetter, Germany must contribute to ensuring peace and security in the region.
"As the country with the strongest economy in Europe, Germany must be ready to make a significant contribution to peacekeeping and the European security architecture," he emphasized.
In his view, Germany is obligated to intervene in Ukraine "at the appropriate time with well-equipped troops."
Kiesewetter also stated that Germany's participation should be a part of the European Union and NATO troops. In his opinion, peacekeepers could become a realistic solution if they are integrated into the European and transatlantic security system, including NATO's nuclear umbrella, which would extend to Ukraine.
According to a survey conducted by the YouGov institute, the majority of Germans (56%) would support the deployment of international peacekeeping forces in Ukraine under a ceasefire agreement. However, only 23% of respondents are willing to support the deployment of German troops, while 33% oppose this decision.

According to him, in the event of an agreement with Russia, European peacekeepers, rather than American forces, could be deployed.
