Ryanair plans to resume flights to Lviv, Kyiv 4-6 weeks after war ends
Ryanair plans to resume flights to Ukraine, hoping that Donald Trump can end Russia's war with Ukraine by the end of this year
This is reported by The Telegraph with reference to the airline's CEO Michael O'Leary.
According to the publication, Michael O'Leary said that Ryanair is developing a plan that will allow it to start flights within four to six weeks after the end of the conflict.
"I very much hope that this will happen this year. I think one of the things that Trump can ensure, hopefully, will be an earlier resolution of Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine," O'Leary said.
Ryanair plans to open about 24 routes to Lviv and Kyiv. According to the airline's CEO, a formal cessation of hostilities will be necessary in order to satisfy the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
“Ultimately it will need some kind of ceasefire because EASA won’t allow anything to fly over there unless they have some kind of reasonable certainty that there won’t be missiles flying,” he said.
- Low-cost airline Ryanair has announced that it will resume flights to and from Tel Aviv from the end of March 2025. The airline, like most others, cancelled flights to Israel following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
