Russia's drone attack on Kyiv region leaves one dead, several injured

Air defense operations in Kyiv and the region

At 4:25 a.m., Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported on the work of air defense forces in the capital.

Around 6 a.m., Klitschko wrote that the wreckage of a UAV had fallen in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. 

“There is no fire. The services are inspecting the site,” the statement said. 

At the same time, a fire broke out in the Darnytskyi district. The head of the city's military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, reported.

“A fire broke out in a private house in Darnytskyi district as a result of falling debris. Rescuers extinguished the fire, information about the victims is being established,” Tkachenko wrote at 5:52 pm.

Vitali Klitschko reported at 6:28 a.m. that there were no injuries in the Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi districts where the UAV wreckage fell. 

Later, the acting head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Mykola Kalashnyk reported that one person was killed and four were wounded in a Russian air attack on the Kyiv region. 

“In one of the districts of the region, a truck driver was wounded by the debris of a downed target. The man died at the scene. In another area, the wreckage of a downed UAV fell on a private house, causing a roof fire. Three people were injured. A 67- year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction. A 16-year-old boy suffered a cut. He will be hospitalized in a children's hospital. His father has cut wounds to his legs,” he said.

According to him, a woman was wounded by shrapnel in the street in another settlement. She was hospitalized in a local hospital. All necessary medical assistance is being provided.

The State Emergency Service reported that 4 private houses and one outbuilding were damaged in Bila Tserkva district. A fire broke out in one of the houses and was extinguished by rescuers at 5:02 a.m. Three people were injured.

A truck was damaged in Brovary district, killing the 25-year-old driver.

In the Fastiv district, a 23- year-old woman was injured by falling debris. She is currently receiving medical care at the district hospital.

Later, Tkachenko clarified that a young woman was injured as a result of falling debris in Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi districts and suffered a burn on her hand, but she refused to be hospitalized.

On the morning of January 3, during an air raid in Khmelnytskyi region, air defense forces downed a Russian drone. The wreckage is being searched for.
