Year against all odds
2024 — undoubtedly one of the toughest years in Russia's war against Ukraine
Here are a few of my points:
1. A year of imitation
The West imitated aid and sanctions. Ukraine imitated reforms, the development of the defense industry, and personnel changes.
2. A year when no one learned from mistakes
Neither the West nor Ukraine learned from their mistakes this year. None of the causes of failures in 2023 were analyzed. Nor were the first six months of 2024. As a result, decisions made in the West remained delayed and ineffective, as before.
Ukraine also failed to learn from its mistakes, whether in matters of mobilization, conducting combat operations, or building fortifications...
3. A year of losing morale
This was the year we lost the most spirit. And although thousands of men demonstrate heroism daily by destroying their enemy, and although Russia has come nowhere close to achieving successes comparable to the Kharkiv or Kherson operations, everyone around is demoralized and filled with a defeatist attitude. It was a complete communications failure.
And yet, we endured. At a high cost.
But it cannot go on like this.
