Russian command redeploys troops from frontline in Ukraine to Kursk region, military expert says
Dmytro Sniehyriov, a military expert, noted that Russian units are being sent to Kursk region from different directions of the frontline in Ukraine and from the rear areas of Russia
He said this on Espreso TV.
"We refute the information that there is no redeployment of Russian units directly from the frontline in Ukraine. It is said that the Russians are not allegedly moving units to the Kursk direction. This is not true.
The 810th Marine Brigade, whose permanent location is in Sevastopol, was withdrawn from the Pokrovsk sector and redeployed to the Kursk sector. One of the most combat-ready brigades of the so-called 1st Army Corps was withdrawn from Krasnohorivka in the Kurakhove direction, the Pyatnashka brigade was redeployed to the Kursk direction. The 1st assault detachment of the former Wagner PMC, currently a volunteer corps under the command of Ratibor (Oleksandr Kuznetsov, one of the commanders of the Wagner PMC - ed.), was withdrawn from the Kramatorsk sector and redeployed to the Kursk sector," commented Dmytro Sniehyriov.
According to him, the situation is similar with the special unit of the Akhmat regiment, but these are not Kadyrov's troops, but the Aida special unit, which is formed of representatives of Slavic nationality, 80% of the personnel. That is, to transfer the most combat-ready units.
"In addition, units from the rear areas of the Russian Federation are being redeployed. Currently, units of the so-called Siberian divisions have already been spotted in the Kursk region, and combat Buryats have been brought in.
According to our Baltic friends, the Russian army is forced to transfer units even from the Kaliningrad region, which is evidence that the Russian army has few operational reserves. And it is quite telling that, according to the analytical department of the Prava Sprava NGO, units of the 116th Special Forces Brigade of the Russian Guard have appeared in the Kharkiv sector amid the events in the Kursk region, meaning that these are not the Russian armed forces. They are using everything they have,’ the military expert concluded.
- On August 22, Lithuanian Army Commander Raimundas Vaikšnoras said that Lithuania had recorded a reduction in Russian ground troops due to the successful actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
- On August 23, Vitaliy Sarantsev, a spokesman for the Kharkiv operational and tactical troop grouping, said that Russia had withdrawn some units from the Kharkiv region to the Kursk direction, but the enemy had enough forces and means to conduct assaults in the Ukrainian region.
