Trump's special envoy Kellogg postpones his visit to Kyiv 'for legal reasons'
The future Trump Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, has postponed his visit to Kyiv for legal, not political, reasons
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi, said this, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“As for General Kellogg's visit, I would prefer his team to comment on the timing of the visit. I can say that the visit is still being prepared, it will take place,” Tykhyi said.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized that there are no political reasons why Kellogg's visit will take place after Trump's inauguration and not before, as previously announced.
“The only reasons why the visit will take place after the inauguration on January 20 are purely legal,” explained Tykhyi.
He also noted that Ukraine considers Kellogg's visit very important.
“We want to start a dialogue with Kellogg as soon as possible after the inauguration on the most critical issues of achieving a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace,” the spokesman added.
