Russian troops attempt to breach defenses to advance toward Siversk - Ukrainian commander
National Guard's Senior Lieutenant Bohdan Pantio states that the Russian forces are advancing despite heavy losses in personnel, equipment, and UAVs in the Siversk direction
He shared this information on the Espreso TV channel.
“The National Guard's Rubizh Brigade is stationed in the Siversk direction. We are holding back the Russian advance toward the settlement of Siversk. The enemy is actively attempting offensive actions, not sparing personnel, equipment, artillery, and UAVs. They are intensively assaulting our positions using various methods, including mass infantry attacks, of the so-called cannon fodder assaults," emphasized Lieutenant.
According to the Senior Lieutenant of the NGU, the Russian troops are trying to break through the Ukrainian Armed Forces' front line, seeking weak points to advance further toward Siversk. However, they are currently failing and will continue to fail. The Russians are actively using armored vehicles and artillery.
"Yesterday alone, about 70 artillery strikes were made on our positions, as well as around 70 drone drops, which are now a serious problem. Electronic warfare (EW) is fulfilling its tasks, but it is not a panacea. The enemy is actively using fiber-optic FPV drones, which EW, unfortunately, cannot counter," Pantio noted.
- On January 9, 161 clashes occurred on the frontline, with Ukrainian forces repelling 42 Russian troops’ attacks near Pokrovsk.
