ISW predicts consequences of Crimean bridge attack
Due to the explosion on the Crimean bridge, the Russian Federation's logistics connection with the occupied peninsula were only partially disrupted, but the blow has caused significant reputational damage to the Kremlin
This is stated in the daily report of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
US analysts stated that the explosion on the Crimean bridge, which occurred on October 8, will not lead to a long-term disruption of the lines of communication with Russian-occupied Crimea, but its consequences will worsen the problems in Russian logistics for a certain time. The destruction of the highway bridge spans will limit movement until the bridge is repaired and at least some of the Russian military will rely on ferry service for the time being.
However, the Russian forces will still be able to transport heavy military equipment by rail. But security checks on all vehicles crossing the bridge will be increased, and this will lead to delays in the movement of Russian military equipment, personnel, and cargo to Crimea;
ISW suggests that the Kremlin will "assign" the Russian Ministry of Defense to blame for the explosion on the bridge and other failures in order to save the reputation of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
Meanwhile, some supporters of the war in the Russian information space stated that the Russian dictator and his closest entourage could not immediately react to the explosion on the bridge, which has great symbolic significance. Some even expressed direct criticism of Putin for the first time. In particular, the lack of retaliatory actions on the part of Russia was called "the weakness of the president himself."
