Explosion hits meeting of occupation police chiefs in Enerhodar
On Friday, August 18, an explosion has occurred at a meeting of occupation police leaders in the temporarily occupied Enerhodar, Zaporizhzhia region
Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence reported the information.
"At approximately 09:23 am, a powerful explosion occurred in the office of the police chief. As a result, the head of the city department, Colonel Pavel Chesanov (Chuvash Republic), his deputy for operational work, the head of the investigation department, the head of the duty unit and the heads of a number of units were severely injured. Immediately after the explosion, they were rushed to a local hospital," the Main Directorate of Intelligence writes.
Following a quick examination of the injured, three ambulances were called from the temporarily occupied Melitopol. Arrangements are in place for the injured to be evacuated via military helicopters to Russian territory.
"The building, in addition to housing the 'police' department, was used as a residence for the occupiers' personnel. As a result of the explosion, the building sustained significant damage, the fire spread to 3-5 floors," the intelligence added.
The area of the incident is currently blocked. The movement of civilians around the city is restricted. The Internet is completely shut down in the city.
Mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, was the first to report the explosion.

"The self-proclaimed "people's police" in the still-occupied Enerhodar neglected safety measures," Fedorov wrote.
According to him, Russians complain that the explosion occurred in a residential building, "but the locals know very well who 'lives' at 17 Budivelnykiv Street."
It is noted that before Russia’s full-scale invasion and the occupation of the city, a police station was located there. Now the premises have been seized by Russian special services.
According to preliminary data, the building also houses a torture chamber where civilian prisoners are kept.
