U.S. National Security Council delegation visits Kyiv ahead of "Ramstein" talks
A delegation from the U.S. National Security Council arrived in Kyiv ahead of the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the "Ramstein" format and held discussions with representatives of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense

During the meeting, one of the main topics was reviewing the results of U.S. assistance to Ukraine in 2024 and planning cooperation between the defense ministries in 2025.
The Ministry of Defense noted that Ukraine's priority goals for 2025 remain strengthening the Ukrainian Defense Forces along the front line, improving the combat readiness of units, enhancing air defense, and developing the defense industry.
Additionally, the parties discussed the status of previously announced U.S. investments in Ukrainian UAV production and other joint projects in the defense industry. Special attention was paid to further U.S. assistance regarding specific types of weaponry and ammunition, as well as aligning positions on Ukraine's needs and U.S. capabilities.
Winfield Swanton, Director for Ukraine at the U.S. National Security Council, emphasized the importance of cooperation between the defense industries of both nations and the development of joint production projects focused primarily on strengthening Ukraine's own capabilities.
- At the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, scheduled for January 9, participants will discuss Ukraine's battlefield needs, long-term defense requirements, and coordination carried out through coalitions of forces and resources.
