Office of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) records 2,072 deaths of civilians following a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine
This was reported by t OHCHR on April 18.
"From 4 a.m. on February 24, 2022, when armed attack of Russian Federation has began, to midnight April 17 (local time), Office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights recorded 4,890 civilian casualties: 2,072 killed and 2,818 wounded," - it is said in a message.
Among those killed were 537 men, 327 women, 38 girls and 60 boys, 71 children, and 1,039 adults whose gender is still unknown. 327 men, 253 women, 56 girls and 61 boys were injured, as well as 155 children and 1,966 adults, whose gender is also unknown.
Most of deaths and injuries were caused by using munitions and explosives with a large area of damage, including heavy artillery shelling and multiple rocket launchers, as well as missile and air strikes, report said.
OHCHR believes that actual figures are much higher, as information from some places of intense fighting is delayed and many reports waiting for confirmation.
This applies, for example, to Mariupol and Volnovakha (Donetsk region), Izyum (Kharkiv region), Severodonetsk and Rubizhne (Luhansk region), Trostyanets (Sumy region), where there are reports of numerous casualties among civil population. These figures have not yet been reported.
