Civilized world understands that Russia - country of murderers and barbarians -  participant of "Games of Unconquered" Victor Legkodukh

Journalist of "Espresso.Zakhid" talked to Viktor Legkodukh from Lviv.

Victor, tell us when you arrived in Netherlands for  2020 Undefeated Games (which are taking place now because they were transferred due to coronavirus pandemic). How was  Ukrainian team received in the world?

We arrived in the Netherlands on April 13. We were greeted very well. The very next day,  American embassy organized an event attended by  United States team and our team. Prince Harry joined the meeting. Everyone expresses great support for Ukraine and, of course, condemns  Russians.

Tell us a little about our team: who are these people, in what sports do they compete? We know that four members of the team are from Lviv. Who is this?

Ukrainian national team consists of 20 athletes, although 19 arrived. Besides me, Ihor Halushka, Serhiy Kalytiuk and Dmytro Afanasyev are from Lviv. In general, all athletes participate in various competitions in various sports. Now our archers will fight for the prize place in  team standings. I have a shot put competition starting today, and there will also be rowing on a simulator, handbike, hand bike, basketball on wheelchairs. Serhiy Kalytyuk takes part in archery and basketball, Dmytro Afanasyev takes part in archery, and Ihor Halushka will also compete in wheelchair volleyball and rowing.

And what about successes of Ukrainians in general?

There are already gold, silver and two bronze medals in overall standings. Now archers are competing - it will be another medal. But there is still some time until to the end of  competition, so I think we will have fun.

Training before the Games was long, as far as I understand, because you had to go back in 2020. But in addition to  sports goal, you also have information. Tell us, who are you talking to, what are you talking about,  main message?

In fact, Games were supposed to take place in 2020, but due to pandemic they were constantly postponed. And this year is a full-scale war. We didn't even expect to go. But the trip was a success and now we have the opportunity, in addition to sports, of course, to convey  civilized world and information about what is really happening in Ukraine. We say that this is not a classic war, because thousands of civilians were killed. War doesn’t kill civilians in masse. And we have tens of thousands of civilians killed and, worst of all, children. In addition, we don’t forget about Taira and call on the whole world to influence to free her.

Victor, I understand that there are no Russians at  Games?

Of course not. Nobody even invited them. The whole civilized world understands that this is a country of murderers and barbarians. There aren't even any volunteers, although there are a lot of Netherlands here.

And who helps Ukrainians the most?

Georgia is very supportive. We were at a volleyball match, in the evening we will also visit their tournament. United States is a huge support. They provided us with all the equipment for wheelchair basketball.
