France to provide Ukraine with armored vehicles, Aster missiles, says Defense Minister
French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu has announced that France will deliver hundreds of armored vehicles and Aster missiles as part of a new aid package to Ukraine
Le Monde reported the information.
Minister Lecornu stated that France plans to supply old but operational armored vehicles to Ukraine, with intentions to replace them with newer models.
Lecornu emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong frontline for the Ukrainian army's mobility.
He mentioned, "This old yet functional equipment will directly benefit Ukraine in significant numbers. We're talking about hundreds in 2024 and early 2025."
Additionally, France aims to enhance Ukraine's air defense capabilities by providing a new batch of Aster 30 anti-aircraft missiles for the SAMP/T air defense system, similar to the Patriot system.
"We're also expediting the development of remote-controlled munitions for delivery to Ukraine this summer," added the minister.

Previously, the French Defense Minister stated that rather than discarding decommissioned weapons, France will transfer them to Ukraine, ensuring no impact on the country's defense capabilities.
