106 combat clashes occur at front today, with heavy fighting in Pokrovsk sector

Since the start of January 5, 106 clashes have occurred along the front line. Ukrainian forces repelled 36 Russian attacks in the Pokrovsk sector, and fighting continues in the Kursk region

Russian forces shelled several border settlements in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, including Porozok, Karpovychi, Hat', Bila Bereza, Druzhba, Bachivsk, Koreniok, Tymofiivka, Starikove, Petrushivka, and Pokrovka. They also launched three guided bombs at Mala Rybytsia and unguided missiles at Hremiachka.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, Russian forces launched an airstrike with unguided missiles near Okhrimivka.

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian troops are fighting off a Russian attack near Zahryzove, successfully repelling one strike.

In the Lyman sector, Russian troops, supported by attack aircraft, launched six assaults near Nadiia, Tverdokhlibove, Zarichne, Novoserhiivka, and Pershotravneve. Four of these clashes are still ongoing.

In the Siversk sector, there was one attack by Russian forces, but it ended inconclusively.

Ukrainian troops are holding off Russian assaults in the Kramatorsk sector near Chasiv Yar, having repelled two attacks already.

In the Toretsk sector, Ukrainian forces stopped three Russian attacks near Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, and Krymske. Two firefights are still ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russian army has attempted 36 times since morning to push Ukrainian forces from positions near Yelyzavetivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Solone, Novovasylivka, Novoielyzavetivka, and Yasenove. Ukrainian forces have repelled 15 attacks, with 16 battles still ongoing. Russia's losses are being assessed.

In the Kurakhove sector, Russia launched 18 attacks near Slovianka, Petropavlivka, Kurakhove, and Dachne, and fighting continues.

In the Vremivka sector, Ukrainian forces repelled six attacks near Yantarne, Novyi Komar, and Kostiantynopil. Two of these are still ongoing. Russian guided aerial bombs also struck Andriivka, Ulaklam, Temyrivka, and Kostiantynopil.

In the Kursk region, 42 military clashes have taken place so far, with 12 still ongoing.

In the Kharkiv, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, and Prydniprovskyi sectors, the Russian army has not been active at this time but continues shelling Ukrainian positions and civilian infrastructure.

  • Over the past day, the Ukrainian army eliminated another 1,730 Russian troops. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed 26 Russian armored vehicles and 25 artillery systems.
