This was reported by RBC-Ukraine and Babel, citing their sources.
According to the sources, the intelligence operation took place on the birthday of the head of Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov. Today, January 4, he turned 39 years old.
RegionTransService LLC is a leading service company that maintains freight wagons, including those used by the Russian army.
The sources stated that as a result of this cyberattack, all of the company's servers were destroyed, workstations were disabled, and "backups" were erased. A total of 78 servers and 211 workstations were affected.
RegionTransService provides a full range of services throughout the life cycle of the wagons, from receiving new wagons at the manufacturing plant and registering them with the railway, to performing all maintenance regulations and the disposal of wagons. This company is one of the key service providers for Russian Railways (RZD), and thus plays a significant role in transporting military cargo for Russia's war against Ukraine.
