Kherson, constantly under fire, begins installing speed cameras – city council
A Kherson city council member, Oksana Pohomiy, had reported that police in Kherson have started installing speed cameras
She shared this information on Espreso TV.
"The Russian forces continue to target civilians in Kherson. Every day, there are wounded and, sadly, dead. The city endures relentless enemy shelling. While it might seem like the intensity has dropped compared to December 20, there are still strikes in various parts of the city, and Russia’s drones are reaching further and further into the city," Pohomiy said.
She noted that Kherson residents try to move quickly through the city to avoid being targeted by Russian drones, making the installation of speed cameras untimely.
"Yesterday, I heard that police started installing speed cameras in Kherson. I can’t confirm it yet since I haven’t seen them myself. Honestly, it’s terrifying to stop at a traffic light where it’s working because you never know if there’s a Russian drone above you. Right now is definitely not the time for speed cameras in the city. The ability to drive quickly can literally save your life," she added.
- During 2024, the invading Russian army attacked the Kherson community about 6,500 times, killing 116 civilians.
